New updated Rulebooks are available, please contact the Well Files Department if you wish to purchase one. The online Rulebook has also been updated to include all rule changes through the end of 2011.


- AS of April 1, 2010 The State Oil and Gas Board now has a new Web Site featuring a map of the State of Mississippi showing the location of wells. All Well Data can be obtained from this new site. Effective July 1, 2008 all Application to Drill, Change of Operator and Reclassification of Well Permits will require Financial Responsibility in the amount stated in the revised Statewide Rule 4 (c)(2).

Effective January 1, 2009 all wells will require Financial Responsibility in the amount stated in the revised Statewide Rule 4 (c)(2).


The Program Objective of the State Oil and Gas Board is to promulgate and enforce rules to regulate and promote oil and gas drilling, production and storage so as to protect the coequal and correlative rights of all owners of interests; and to promulgate and enforce rules to regulate the disposal of nonhazardous oil field waste in an environmentally safe manner consistent with federal and state regulations.
